It's a Bass Thang

Ray Camp is the bass player. California born and raised, he has played a four stringed instrument since he was 9 years old. Starting out on the ukulele and then moving to violin, viola, cello, upright, and then electric bass. He grew up in an  artistic house hold led by his father actor, singer, song writer, Hamilton Camp. The Family had a band together that toured the East Coast, Europe, and  around the L.A. club scene.

Ray has played in numerous projects over the years but had always wanted to do a funk thing. After multiple failed attempts to start up a funk band he had all but given up and was playing with his last band before GrooveStone called Carbon. A slightly funky alternative band. Check them out and the CD Ray recorded with them at Stonegarden Records   Ray ended up quitting Carbon pursuing his funk quest. GrooveStone's bass player and drummer had left the band so Ray started talking with Jay and Wes about doing the groove thing and the rest is history.

Ray is also an 8 wheel vert skater. For those of you who are not familiar with the sport, what that means is. He skates ramps and pools with roller skates. Check out some of his skating pics.
